The Nashville Coin Club is dedicated to promoting the hobby of collecting, and the furtherance of studying, all coins, currency, medals, and tokens. The club does not perform appraisals, broker sales, or perform other functions normally associated with the business of legitimate coin dealers. Specifically, the Nashville Coin Club exists to:
- Promote interest, advancement, diffusion of knowledge and understanding of numismatics through education of our membership,
- Collect, exchange and disseminate numismatic information for the benefit of our club members,
- Cultivate a fraternal relationship among club members through social activities and discussions of mutual interest,
- Sponsor periodic venues for the exchange of numismatic items, information and education among members and the general public,
- Promote and encourage young members to develop a greater interest in numismatics.
Each May and December, the Nashville Coin Club and Hendersonville Coin Club coordinate to host a coin and currency show in Gallatin. Since 2024, "Nashville Coin Club, LLC" is a registered "unincorporated nonprofit association" with the State of Tennessee.
The modern iteration of the Nashville Coin Club has roots dating back to June 1947. An election of officers and dedication for a new club occurred at the James Robertson Hotel on June 15, 1947. The club continued to meet monthly, expand its membership and offerings, and eventually moved its meeting location to the community room at the Nashville Electric Service Building sometime in the late 1960's. Nashville Coin Club meetings continued to be held at that location throughout the 1970's.
As part of a club's re-organization in 2024, the Nashville Coin Club updated our governing documents and registered with the State of Tennessee as a non-profit organization. Because our purpose is for public benefit and not for profit, we operate under a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service classification.
